CertainTeed — Ambler Plant in Ambler PA

Plaintiffs have alleged in publicly filed U.S. asbestos personal-injury and wrongful-death litigation that they were exposed to asbestos while working at the CertainTeed Ambler plant — and at the historical Keasbey & Mattison (K&M) asbestos manufacturing complex whose Ambler operations CertainTeed later acquired — in Ambler PA. For the full corporate summary, see the CertainTeed manufacturer page.

Plant Description and Operating Era

The Ambler PA site is one of the most extensively documented asbestos-cement legacy premises in the United States. Keasbey & Mattison Company operated a large asbestos manufacturing complex at Ambler from the late 1800s through the mid-twentieth century, producing asbestos-cement pipe, asbestos siding, asbestos insulation, and related products. CertainTeed acquired K&M’s Ambler asbestos-cement operations and continued production of Transite asbestos-cement pipe, Fluid-Tite sewer pipe, corrugated asbestos-cement roofing sheet, and asbestos siding shingles from the site through the U.S. asbestos era. Ambler PA has a publicly documented residential and environmental asbestos-fiber footprint tied to decades of on-site manufacturing and adjacent asbestos waste piles.

Ambler PA note: the CertainTeed / Keasbey & Mattison Ambler complex is one of the U.S.’s most extensively documented asbestos-cement legacy premises — decades of K&M and CertainTeed asbestos-cement pipe, siding, and roofing manufacturing, with an allegedly and publicly documented residential and environmental asbestos-fiber footprint.
